I previously posted about Bishop Charles Warburton’s mourning ring, which came up for sale in Australia in 2024, and was subsequently bought by a descendant of the Bishop’s brother, whose son emigrated to Australia. I have just received the following email and photo from Elaine Hopper.

Elaine says: ” It is my second cousin who bought [the ring] this year, and we had a nice meal together and she showed me the ring.
It is believed to have come on the market via descendants of Charles Warburton Carr but [my cousin] is still pursuing the provenance. It was made in 1824 according to the band marking, in London. But the Bishop did not die until 1826.
I was quite surprised by the delicacy of the ring – I had thought it would be more manly. But is is light and shines beautifully.“
