I tend to be a little behind in reading newspapers so it was only this morning over breakfast that I read the obituary to Dame Anne in Wednesday’s Telegraph. You can see it in the online addition here.
Dame Anne is famous for being the first British female ambassador when she took up her post in Denmark in 1976. I only learned of her existence recently when reading the biography of her father Eliot Warburton MC.
The family belong to the Garryhinch clan, but to the half of the clan that is descended from George of Aughrim. So here is another distinguished figure from that clan.
My to do list includes updating the clan with details of Eliot’s family and I can now include Anne as she no longer violates my rule of excluding living people. I also discovered that Eliot was dubious of some of the stories of the origin of that clan. My to do list includes writing an article to update on all that is known, or surmised about those origins.
If anyone has any thoughts or information on that subject I would love to here from you.
